How does a Clickboard really top CPM?

This graph shows the amount CPM’s cost per industry, some a little over $12 and some only $3. I will have to go back and reference this factoid but only 2% of all ads on the Internet are clicked on only once. So if we take the first ten industries giving us ten industry CPMs and say ten advertisers per industry that would give us 100 ads and 100,000 views. Now only 2 of those ads would be clicked on. The total for the ten industries is $76.13 and the total for the 100 ads comes to $761.30 for the 100,000 views meaning each click is then worth $380.65. I could fly to Singapore for that.

Basically the cost per click method is way more valuable than CPM. I don’t know why more people don’t use it!

Targeting one in a million

Is there anything other than Word or SMS or RSS？Yea Apple has Pages but still my point is that nothing on the Internet is anything more than a puffed out Word document with pictures and tables, still just a word document. All that is on the phone is instant messages. All that is on the Internet are feeds and RSS. And who wants to get between this? Everybody! So can you actually tell me that when an advertiser makes an ad on the Internet that it will actually fit in with the conversation? Is the ad on the right hand side of the page going to add to the graduate students thesis paper, are the ads sent in between text messages going to add to the party and the pizza they are ordering? Probably not. If ads want to go anywhere, they need to step back and find out the basis of computing for normal people. Right now the hot trend is to get people to incorporate themselves into the ads by sending them on to friends. Did you know that only 2% of all ads on the Internet are clicked on only and at least once? So all this hype about people interacting with the ads on social media is only about, well I can’t even do the numbers, but a very small amount. And they say this is where the future is going.

If you want to find the future, you have to get back to the basics. Think of it in terms of Word and SMS. Would I literally write my grandmother a letter saying I used something? Or would I literally write my friend that I love to rent movies from a certain place just because, and not because it is the closest? The big big dollars are being mounted on less and less supports. And yes there is strangely absurd correct placement of advertisements on the web these days with re-targeting technology and

Google Analytics

I found a really cool feature on Google Analytics. I can actually follow someone as they travel through my site going from page to page. It shows me the percent of people who clicked on different links on a particular page. So as Alvin and his company from Shanghai traversed my site on Tuesday I could actually follow them as the went from home screen to Clickcard, to Clickboards, to the About page and then the the Clickcard category and so forth. I couldn’t tell which exact button was clicked by who because there was more than one person searching my site that day, but I could see two or three distinct paths.

The problem however is when they visited the Clickboard page. The Clickboards are supposed to be ads. Now Google Analytics will track ads but they have to be registered. My Clickboards are not registered, so I was unable to see if they clicked on them and how many times and how far they went through the Clickboards. Very upsetting because that was kind of the point of their visit. Tomorrow I will have to find out how to register my Clickboards with the Google Analytics. My first assumption is to add the tag to the Flash coding and then repost them. And another way is somehow with this Wordpress site. It has an ad tracker too but haven’t explored this in detail yet. Both options seem viable but I like the new Google Analytics tool so I am going to explore that first.

New Name

I changed the title of my site from Telling all All to Four Click Freedom. I think the previous had negative connotations for first visitors or even the preview people on Facebook. I think the implications was that I know everything and you are all stupid and should listen to me be the smartest person. However, that was not the point at all. In fact what it was meant to say was that my site is for anyone willing to listen and that I am trying to give as much information about the development of my project as I can, not excluding any details. But I think the thought is lost in translation.

So, I have changed the name to reflect more of what a Clickboard does. In four clicks you are still free to surf the Internet without being dragged into a buying process or printing off coupons. Four clicks is pretty powerful when you think about it, what will you accomplish in your next four clicks?

Points pointer

Well I have talked about this before, but now I have an extenuation of my idea. To encourage people to click, every click can be valued at a certain number of points. So for every click on a Clickboard, users acquire points either on my website or across the Internet. These points can then be used to purchase special promotions from my website.

One Click Websites are over

Websites today are extremely limited. The one and only factor used for navigation is the ‘click’. However I want more. A website should be multidimensional like my desktop. There are actually many things to do on a website. Sometime I get caught up in the middle of updating one page when I want to move onto the next and twiddle with that and come back to my update later. Currently that is a long path of navigation only directed in one line of direction conducted with my mouse. Even roll over websites are limited in this function. I want my website to be my browser my desktop all in one. I know larger websites may find this more appealing and I know you can just open the links in new tabs or windows, but that is still limiting my line of direction which is still limited to the single click. I want multiple paths and multiple activities going on within one website. This is my new task. I guess this means segmenting your website into distinct layers and sections, each able to think independently from the rest without always redirecting me to a new window or page. Most tools are simple enough to make appear within small frames, they should even be able to disappear when actions within those windows are completed. And the completed actions should then update the other frames within my window. Now that would be an interactive website.

New Clicker icon

I think the star with the pointer is a little confusing. So I am thinking of using this little icon instead, although I have seen a version of this somewhere else.

However, I can also make the pointer do that to the star too. I will put an update when I make that one and you can tell me which do you think would work better but also be recognizable.

I’ve made a Clickboard

Go to my Clickboard page at the top of the screen and go to the bottom and you will see the very first Clickboard. Simple as it may be you will see its potential. Refresh the screen if you would like to see it again.

I can put flash animation behind each button to give each new scene its own personality. The add can even be broken up into sections where there would be multiple buttons at the end of each scene to choose from. So in theory you can make a choose-your-own-adventure as an ad that never takes you away from your work. Games, teasers, and trivia can all be built in.

All of this activity can be tracked, the more eccentric the ad the more relevant information that can be pulled from it, requiring almost no obligation from the user.

Porn and the Clickboard

Although I haven’t figured out my involvement with the industry yet, it will probably be quite minimal. However the influence the Clickboard will have will be revolutionary.

My example comes from my girlfriends iPhone. There is a game on there called the ShakeMate. There is a beautiful girl with work clothes on. You shake the phone the first time and her glasses fall off. Again and again you shake it and articles of clothing fall off. In the end you are happy if you stopped shaking at the right time and a little embarrassed if you kept shaking.

The Clickboard can do the same thing. Each time you click on the ad the little more erotic it gets. This all without having to travel through the website looking at the preview pages. A little here a little there and you really get people interacting and experiencing the website.

Now that I have told you how the porn industry will change with the Clickboard, how will Clickboards.net be involved. First of all this really depends on the user. No information on the Clickboards.net database is for sale to such parties even if desired. So you will probably never see the Clickboard icon on any of those ads. Maybe I will make a side business and seperate website to facilitate the influence of Clickboards, even if it is a shady area. One thing is for sure, the two worlds are separate. I will probably call the website Crankshaft.net and make the icon my beloved Crankshaft logo.
